Almost Died

I was only 15 when I fought in the war in Germany. The Russians were attacking us and they were throwing hand grenades everywhere. I was watching our troops get killed all over the place. I was really scared and we took cover in a hole in the ground. I didn’t know what to do so I was going to make a run for it. Just as I was getting ready to run, my troop leader grabbed me and said “if you run now, you will get killed”. He was right. We lost over 30% of our men that day and I would have been one of them if I had ran. If it wasn’t for my troop leader grabbing my arm at that last minute, I wouldn’t have been here to tell this story.
